Ritu Beri showcased her collection, Punjabi Rock & Roll, on the penultimate day of PCJ Delhi Couture Week. With Jassi singing festive Punjabi songs, wish Ms Beri had sent out an unadulterated Punjabi festive collection. But no. That’s a very tall order. Ritu Beri decided to do ‘couture’. Roughly translated, it meant that she sent out some bizarre-looking unwearable lehngas, more lehngas and some suits. Ridiculously ruffled, structured tops and seriously can-canned bottoms. And Sushma Swaraj and Shashi Tharoor (with ghagra-clad wife Sunanda) sat on the FROW.

Gaurav Gupta sent out a luminescent and luxurious collection, on the last day of the week. His line, Lightfall, had many aha moments that will soon find takers amongst the fit and fabulous of Bollywood and beyond. With psychedelic fairy lights around the perimeter of the ramp, the set was simple. His signature sexy saris had all the elements in place — the slits, one-shoulder blouses, bare backs. Beginning with liquid metals, the show proceeded to some colour, traditional ones at first and finally a pop of neon. The peekaboo sheer panels cut a dangerously dramatic picture. The show also saw one of the best looks of the week, vintage hairstyles and extended eye-liners. Veils and floral vines on the head, striking oversized ear-cuffs and embroidered peep-toe sandals added glam finishing touches.
