Kebabs have been synonymous with Kebab-e-Que at The Astor for decades. But did you know they also have Oriental, Thai and Italian food? Kebab-e-Que has rolled out a revamped menu with some of the iconic dishes from the 1980s alongside some new items. “We got some of the old dishes back as a tribute to our heritage, while some new dishes from Continental cuisine have made an entry so that people realise our menu is not just about kebabs,” said executive chef Amlan Bose.

The Astor Raan has a succulent leg of mutton cooked in the tandoor and the chargrilled portion is chopped into chunks. This non-messy royal delicacy is served with Makhmali Paratha and sauteed bell peppers. The meat is tender with the right amount of spice. A portion serves around three people.
Akbari Murgh is a KEQ speciality that is cooked in the dum style. With a cooking period of 25-30 minutes, the chicken prep is rich in spices and the taste borders on spicy. Unless you want to pounce on the chicken, ask it to be cut it into portions. Still hungry? Well, have a go at the rice and veggies on one side and chicken keema on the other, garnished with eggs!

In the mood for Continental? Dig into Empire Roast Agnello. The roast lamb delicacy is stuffed with garlic and feta cheese, cooked in a brown sauce and served with herb and buttered rice and rosemary roasted potato wedges on the side.
Firdaus-e-Numa — a dish of potatoes stuffed with nuts, dry fruits and chillies, tossed in a red marinade and chargrilled — is a great option to start your foodathon with.
Bringing in the warmth of home-style Bengali comfort food is the brand-new section Kolkata Calling. Think Aloo Posto, Railway Mutton Curry. If your heart craves for fish, ask for Dhakai Maachher Jhol that is prepared with potato, cauliflower, tomato and chillies and is served with a bowl of steamed rice. Add a dash of lemon and attack!
