The success of his directorial debut Chha-E-Chhuti has inspired Aniket Chattopadhyay to plan a second film with almost the same cast.
It’s an untitled comedy about four Calcutta-based couples whose marriages have hit rock bottom, starring Shilajit, Anjana Basu, Rudranil Ghosh, Locket Chatterjee, Kharaj Mukherjee, Sonalee Chaudhuri, Kanchana Moitra, Kanchan Mullick and Neel Mukhopadhyay — most of whom were part of Chha-E-Chhuti.
“I had explored various types of relationships in Chha-E-Chhuti, including a lesbian angle, highlighting the lives of Tolly stars. But I wanted to offer something different in my second film although my target audience remains the same, which is the urban crowd,” says Aniket.
In this story, ad filmmaker Shilajit’s marriage to lecturer Anjana has long gone sour, neither is there any love lost between salesman Kanchan and his model wife Kanchana. The same goes for the other two couples — promoter Kharaj and NGO worker Sonalee; Neel, who heads a company, and his wife Locket, a secretary in another company. Rudranil plays a driver. “All four couples have been married for more than five years and there’s no love between them anymore. One day the couples meet each other and the stage is set for extramarital affairs,” says Aniket.
“I chose to repeat most of the actors of Chha-E-Chhuti as I am very comfortable working with them. The story doesn’t need big stars,” he adds. The film is produced by Kaustav Roy. The climax and two song sequences will be shot in Bangkok.
