Calcutta girl Dimpy — who shot to fame with her marriage to Rahul Mahajan on the reality show Swayamvar: Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jaayega — entered the Bigg Boss house on Friday night on a wild card. Minutes before she entered the house, t2 caught up with the Girish Park girl on her Bigg Boss plans and the status of her marriage.

Why Bigg Boss?

It’s one of India’s favourite shows and mine too. I have followed all the seasons and when I was asked if I wanted to be on the show, I was very excited because I feel it’s a great platform to test one’s levels of tolerance and ability to stay away from friends and family. I was approached for Bigg Boss in earlier seasons, but due to various seasons it didn’t materialise.

With the season on air for two months and with the contestants already making it to the favourite lists of viewers, don’t you think you are at a disadvantage getting in now?

There definitely is a lot of pressure, but whether or not I am at a disadvantage only time can tell. In previous seasons, some wild-card entrants lasted till the final stages of the show… so you never really know.

But then again you could be at an advantage because you got married on a reality show...

(Laughs) Yes, that’s a huge advantage. Swayamvar, I believe, has been the mother of all reality shows because it changed my life… I got married on that show! Bigg Boss can’t get more life-changing than that!

Many feel that the contestants this season are far more aggressive than those in previous editions. Does that worry you?

I know what you mean. But on the contrary, I feel that the contestants this season haven’t really set things rolling so far. Yes, they have been aggressive in the tasks, but in the house they have been quite friendly and have been looking after each other. I don’t think Bigg Boss works like that… until you are fiercely competitive, it’s not possible to last on the show. Maybe I need to go in and shake things up! (Laughs) Everyone’s pretending a lot… it’s time their masks came off.

You and Rahul had such a high-profile marriage but are now headed for divorce. What went wrong?

I think ups and downs happen in every marriage and ours has always been in the limelight… every little fight we had has been magnified and brought to everyone’s notice. Yes, we have had our problems and we can’t be in this marriage anymore, but I don’t think I should say anything more than this (smiles).

Rahul was a Bigg Boss 2 contestant. Has he given you any advice regarding the show?

I did speak to him. He told me that I shouldn’t consider anyone a friend on the show. I am in it alone.
