B-Schools mean serious business but that doesn’t mean they can’t have fun once in a while. BRIO 2015, the annual fest of IBS Business School Kolkata, powered by The Telegraph — YOU made sure of just that. The two-day fest took place on January 7 and 8. Day One was held on campus, in Salt Lake’s Sector V, before the party shifted to Swabhumi, for on-stage events on Day Two.
BRIO kicked off with marketing games focusing on analytics, entrepreneurship and human resource management. A case-writing competition on the “Small scale crafts of Bengal” was aced by Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
Day Two started with a solo dance competition for which Heritage Institute of Technology took the winning trophy. IISWBM won the solo singing competition. The boys of Gurudas College took the stage dressed as jokers, complete with painted faces and multi-coloured wigs. But when it came to dancing, they were dead serious and grooved away with the first prize.
Then, it was time for some fashion. The first to walk the ramp was Seth Anandaram Jaipuria College, with a colour scheme of black and red. The girls even sported headgear and accessories made out of roses. NIFT Calcutta was up next and their collection was inspired by traffic rules. Then, the host team walked down the ramp in clothes sponsored by Pantaloons. “All the three teams put in a lot of effort and it showed on stage. All the clothes for each college were coordinated and had a theme so that was nice to see,” said Abhishek Dutta, designer and one of the judges for the fashion show. The winner? NIFT.
BRIO wrapped up with students grooving to the tunes churned out by DJ Dippy.
“We feel that academics is not the only area in which a student should excel. Extra-curricular activities are equally important. The students also get to learn something new when they organise this festival,” said Ajay Pathak, director, IBS Business School Kolkata.
