The Gateway Hotel’s Buzz is letting you carry on your love affair thanks to the Biryani Festival on till May 21 (noon to 11.30pm). From Hyderabadi to Bengali, Lucknowi to Awadhi, there’s biryani for every palate. Dig into the Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani, Lucknowi Mutton Biryani, Thalassery Chicken Biryani and even choose from a wide range of vegetarian biryanis like Pathani Chawal, Chhanar Kofta Biryani and Green Jackfruit Biryani. What’s more, the biryanis are served with accompaniments such as boondi raita, chaanp gravy, thick butter milk or salan, making it a complete meal. “Biryani is an all-time favourite. But the main reason for this festival was to introduce Calcutta to different styles and flavours of the dish. Hyderabadi and Awadhi biryanis are common but you will find variations of the dish from Thalassery (Kerala), Bhatkali (Karnataka) and Chettinad,” said executive chef Asish Roy.
