TV star Debleena Dutt has taken the plunge from the small screen to the big, 10 years after she had played Chiranjit’s li’ sister in Manush Amanush. She plays an “anti-heroine” in her second film Raja Goja No Problem, directed by Arindam Dey. Sourabh Chakraborty and Ambarish Bhattacharya play Raja and Goja.

Raja-Goja have made it to the big screen from the small, but the film’s storyline charts a different course from Raja Goja Bindaas Moja, the comedy that was one of Zee Bangla’s top draws.

As the only female character in the film, Debleena is excited. “I had lots of offers to play the hero’s sister after my debut film. But I can’t be there in a film just for the sake of it. I want to do films only if my role is indispensable. In Raja Goja I play Nancy, who lures rich men, marries them and then makes off with their cash and jewellery. She is a hilarious character with some corny one-liners! Besides, comedy is my forte,” chirped Debleena.

“Our roles in the film are similar to what we had played in the serial. But in the film, Raja wants to be an actor, while Goja wants to be a singer,” said Sourabh.
