Anil Kapoor-Madhuri Dixit-Hema Malini-starrer Jamai Raja is going to be remade by Shemaroo Entertainment in collaboration with Indian Media Entertainment Network (IMEN).
When the action comedy film hit the screens in 1990, the chemistry between Anil and Madhuroi wowed the audience, while Hema Mailini received accolades for her role as the tough mother-in-law. The cast and crew for the new film, which will come with a relevant script and screenplay. is yet to be finalised.
As part of the celebration of its 60th year, Shemaroo is looking to modernise old content by giving it a more relevant touch for the current generation. “Our first move to reintroduce old content to the new audience will be through our partnership with IMEN for Jamai Raja,” said Shemaroo Entertainment CEO Hiren Gada.
On his part, IMEN CEO Nilesh Sahay said action-genre films provided the majority of content consumed internationally. “It’s our duty to produce the best action content for people to enjoy as a company that specialises in that genre. Shemaroo has long been associated with family entertainment, so I'm thrilled to collaborate with them to deliver Jamai Raja. The movie will be produced in a big way and I’m sure that the viewer will love to watch it.”
