With less than two weeks to go for the finale, being evicted now must be heartbreaking…
I am heartbroken for the friends I leave behind in the house, not for the fact that I have been evicted. In fact, I am very happy because the purpose with which I entered Bigg Boss 84 days ago has been fulfilled. I came in not for fame or money or to win the show, but to show the people of India and Pakistan who the real Veena Malik is. Bigg Boss ke pehle, mere muttalik bahut saare derogatory baatein boley jaa rahe thhey (Before Bigg Boss, a lot of derogatory remarks were being circulated about me). I put my life at a lot of risk to expose corrupt individuals (Veena was the whistle-blower in the recent match-fixing scandal that allegedly involved her ex-boyfriend and Pakistani pacer Muhammad Asif), but my name was unnecessarily dragged into the controversy. Today I can claim that most people in India know who the real Veena Malik is. I am an innocent girl looking for love.
Did you think you would last 84 days when you first walked in?
Not even in my dreams! I am a Pakistani actress, who was virtually unknown in India before Bigg Boss. Yet, from day one, the audience was always behind me. I am the only Bigg Boss contestant to survive seven nominations. India ke log mujhse bahut mohabbat karte hain (The people of India love me). It is this love and support that helped me survive so long in Bigg Boss. Main kisika diya hua dard bhool sakti hoon, lekin kisika diya hua pyaar nahin (I can forget the hurt but never the love I get).
From speaking seductively into the camera to the sensuous jig for Ashmit Patel and Hrishant Goswami, you kept the focus on yourself all the time…
Nothing that you saw of me on Bigg Boss was for the cameras. You can fake for a day or a week, but not for 84 days. I am emotional, I love to flirt and I know I am cute and beautiful and that’s what you got to see of Veena Malik on Bigg Boss. I have been told that most people did not like my getting close to Ashmit, but we were just two good friends seeking comfort and companionship in each other.
But Ashmit and you came across as more than just friends…
We are just friends, period. He is a wonderful person and is the only one I would like to keep in touch with after Bigg Boss. To be honest, I would be more than happy if something more than friendship developed between Ashmit and me in the future. But as of now, we are two good friends who have seen a lot of ups and downs in life and have bonded well. I wish I could be with him forever. We have genuine chemistry and share a beautiful relationship.
What were the best and worst moments in Bigg Boss?
I liked the times when I was alone in front of the mirror or when I would talk to the cameras. When I walked into the show, I was a broken woman. The moments alone in the Bigg Boss house gave me a chance to rediscover myself. I also loved the time I spent with Ashmit, Sara (Khan), Hrishant (Goswami) and Aanchal (Kumar).
The toughest was undoubtedly surviving Dolly Bindra. Even in my darkest days outside, I don’t think I have ever met anyone like her. That woman says the most horrible and humiliating things and has no respect for anyone. She is capable of doing anything. I am honestly scared of Dolly Bindra.
Who do you think will win?
Most of those left now are very popular. There is Khaliji who has a huge fan base, Shweta (Tiwari) and Sameer (Soni) are both extremely popular stars and have the backing of the Indian TV and film industries. Dollyji may also surprise everyone and last till the end. But in my heart, I know Ashmit will win. My gut feeling is never wrong.
What next for Veena Malik?
I will wait for film and TV offers in India. I know that the people of India want to see more of Veena Malik.
