Why did the storyline of Rohoshyomoy appeal to you?

I love thrillers, but never had the opportunity to be a part of one. When I was offered this whodunit I loved the way the story was woven, and also my character. Every day now when we open the newspaper or a TV channel the kind of news we see, the kind of crimes we come to know about, this story now appears to be extremely relatable to the things happening around us every single day.

Tell us about your character?

I play Esha, a corporate employee who is part of a group of four friends here.

How was your shooting experience?

It was a tight schedule, but was fun. We were on the last leg of shoot when Covid happened. After the first wave we completed our remaining shoot.

How was it like working with Saswata Chatterjee?

It’s always good to have a great actor in the same frame, it elevates the performance I feel. I admire Saswatada’s acting skills, so it was a pleasure.

Why is this film special to you?

It is special because I keep hearing that I need to do more ‘mass-y’ films, and this one has a mass-y appeal to it.

When is the international premiere of A Knock on the Door?

This January-end at the super prestigious International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR) . It’s their 52nd edition. It’s a psychological thriller based in Kolkata. Adil (Hussain) and I play a professor couple, with an age difference. And then something happens. I cannot divulge anything more! Naseeruddin Shah, Imaad Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Nandita Das play other important roles.

How was the response to Chabiwala at KIFF?

The response was very good. Astounding. We are really touched, and are now looking forward to the theatrical release in the coming few months. I play Fatima who is the headman’s daughter of a village. She falls in love with a key maker, who is without any apparent high ambition in life. She gets married to another man, is shifted to a city and life happens to her. And she, absolutely alone, tries to get to the truth, and decide the course of her life all by herself this time.
