The Varun Dhawan-Alia Bhatt magic that started in Student of the Year and carried into Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania looks set to continue into their March release, Badrinath Ki Dulhania. But first they will come face to face with the magician who created all the abracadabra: Karan Johar. The best buds and stars will be on Sunday’s episode of Koffee with Karan Season 5, which will air at 9pm on Star World and Star World HD. t2 brings you a sneak peek.
Friendly competition
Joking around, talking about silly things and being funny and crazy, the two share a comfort level that only comes with friendship. However, things have not always been this easy between them. When the two initially met at a reading, Varun, 29, was slightly wary about working with someone so much younger than him (Alia is 23). The icebreaker was when Varun learned that he and Alia were from rival schools (Varun studied at Bombay Scottish School and Alia at Jamnabai Narsee School), and he started competing with her in jest.
Boo-hoo Alia
Teasing Alia throughout the episode, Varun lets out a secret: Alia cries about anything and everything at the drop of a hat! Although Alia vehemently denies this, the actor has proof — a video he shot of her sobbing on the sets of Badrinath Ki Dulhania. Apparently, throughout the shoot the cast had continuously binged on rich food. But Alia was desperate for some healthy food and the only thing on the menu was cheese balls. She was so upset that she burst into tears. Yes, cheese balls made her cry!
Marriage is definitely on the cards
Don’t forget to watch the segment where Karan Johar tries to make Varun come clean about marriage. Instead of shying away from the topic, VD says he would love to get married soon and completely believes in the institution. That’s not all. He also reveals that he cannot wait to have kids of his own. Only if he had someone to get married to… maybe he does? Watch the episode!
Alia eyes Sid in boxers!
There has been enough “conjecture” (Karan’s favourite word) about Alia and Sidharth Malhotra dating but neither confirms it. But her Kapoor & Sons co-star does seem to feature at the top of Alia’s list of favourite men throughout the episode. From naming him as one of the hottest men in Bollywood to saying that Sid would look very good in boxers (we agree!) to confessing that he would be one of the Bollywood stars she would make out with... Alia’s fondness for Sid is all too apparent. And in the Rapid Fire Round, Alia says she would, if required, happily go to jail for Sid!
No double dating, please
Karan is his usual curious self and he tries to “deconstruct” the relationship Varun and Alia share. While the two deny having a dating history, they are also against Karan’s idea of going on double dates. Why? They think they are cool around each other but when others are involved, things become complicated!
