Ayushmann Khurrana and Tollywood actress Ritabhari Chakraborty are opening a cafe in Calcutta! Well, you can’t order a cuppa there, but you can watch them romance at ‘Calcutta Cafe’ in Ayushmann’s music video Ore mon when it releases later this month.
“It’s a very sweet song, a love song in Hindi with a couple of Bengali lines, sung by Ayushmann. We shot it sometime in June-July. It’s directed by Shlok Sharma, who made Haraamkhor with Nawazuddin Siddiqui,” Ritabhari, who’s thrilled about her first “national project”, told t2.
“Our chemistry has come out so well! We totally look like a pair. We shot for three-four days and we developed a comfort zone. Ayushmann was great to work with... if the stylist wanted him to look like a stud and give him a jacket or something, he himself would say, ‘Yeh toh simple banda hai yaar’… or he would take my assistant director’s gamchha and wrap it around his neck for a shot,” said Ritabhari, whose favourite Ayushmann film is Vicky Donor. “I love his music videos as well. I liked his new music video Ik vaari.”
The story in Ore mon is set in Calcutta, where Ayushmann’s character helps his girlfriend, played by Ritabhari, set up Calcutta Cafe.
“The cafe is my character’s dream, a choice her parents can’t seem to understand. The cafe was done up with posters of Mahanagar and Satyajit Ray,” said Ritabhari, who shot with Ayushmann in an old house around Sovabazar.
Swanand Kirkire has penned the Hindi lyrics, while Anindya Chatterjee of Chandrabindoo has written the Bengali lines. Upal Sengupta, also of Chandrabindoo, has composed the music. Filmmaker Kamaleswar Mukherjee plays Ritabhari’s father and Bidipta Chakraborty her mother.
