The title spells it loud and clear. Director Agnidev Chatterjee’s forthcoming film A Political Murder is about the politics of our time. “The film is based on two incidents — the Maharashtra education scam and the Delhi rape. I am not going to show the rape but the protests that took place in Calcutta,” he said at the launch party in Shisha Reincarnated on Monday. The film, to be produced by Agnidev’s son Akash, goes on the floors on Wednesday.
With such a subject, is Agnidev expecting to court controversy again like his last film 3 Kanya? “I don’t think there will be any controversy. It’s my interpretation of the current political situation in the country. I believe films should depict what is happening around us,” he said.
In A Political Murder, Rituparna plays a professor, Rahul plays a youth leader and Priyanka a college-goer in love with him. “This will be my fourth film with Agnidev. It’s great working with him and we’ve become family,” said Rituparna.
