Abir Chatterjee and Mimi Chakraborty pair up for Alaap after Raktabeej; pictures from the set

Directed by Premendu Bikash Chaki, Alaap also features Swastika Dutta, Debopriyo Mukherjee and Kinjal Nanda

After Raktabeej, Abir Chatterjee and Mimi Chakraborty have paired up for their next film together — Premendu Bikash Chaki’s Alaap. The romantic comedy, also starring Swastika Dutta, Debopriyo Mukherjee and Kinjal Nanda, revolves around Pablo Majumdar (Abir), Aditi Mitra (Mimi, and Swatilekha Sen (Swastika) who work in different IT companies. 

Their paths cross in the professional sphere, which triggers a chain of events.The team shot the film’s second schedule at Polo Floatel on the Ganga. Mimi, Abir  and Swastika — all dressed in formals — sat in a conference room for a sequence involving a corporate summit. Here are some moments from the Alaap shoot.

Mimi and Abir catch up on the sidelines. ‘Chaki-da had offered a film to Mimi and me 10-12 years back but it didn’t happen. Finally, this one is happening,’ said Abir.

‘This is an old-school romantic story,’ said Mimi, whose character in Alaap is an extrovert by nature. How Mimi and Abir meet in the film has been kept under wraps.

In Alaap, Abir’s Pablo is a confident but introvertish guy who works in an IT company. ‘Abir-da is like family. We have known each other since I started my career. He was there for me when I didn’t know anyone in the industry. I can discuss anything with him,’ said Mimi.

Director Chaki with Swastika on set. ‘Alaap deals with the intricacies of commitment issues in a relationship in the form of romantic comedy. The USP of the story is that the hero and the heroine don’t meet until towards the end of the film,’ said Chaki.
