Kangana Ranaut and Emraan Hashmi in Raaz 2

The Bhatts have found a novel way of cashing in on the success of their previous hits — using a popular title from an earlier hit for a completely new story.

They have completed Raaz — The Mystery Continues, which stars Emraan Hashmi, Kangana and Adhyayan Suman. Bipasha Basu and Dino Morea starred in the original. And now comes news that the Bhatts, Pooja to be specific, are planning a sequel to the Bipasha Basu-John Abraham hit Jism. Like Raaz 2, Jism 2 will also have a new team of actors.

Shagufta Rafique, who has written several films for the Bhatt camp, including Raaz 2, has already started working on the script of Jism 2. But at the very onset, Shagufta pronounces: “Jism 2 is not a sequel to Jism. It does not continue from where the story of Bipasha and John ended.”

Shedding light on the mystery of the “same title-different film” strategy, she says: “Jism is a brand that worked. If somebody else were to make a film with this title, they would have made a mess out of it. Jism is a title which is also very intriguing. And we are the only people who will be able make an atypical film that will add to the brand.

“Like we used the title Raaz, we started off by trying to make a sequel but the idea didn’t work and so we settled for a new story. This time again, it’s a completely new story — but it deals, once again, with jism, the human body. We couldn’t have gone with a title like Body or Badan.”

The new Jism will be made sans Bipasha. “People tend to change physically over the years. Bipasha was very fresh at the time of Raaz and Jism. Now, the freshness is not there in her... she is overexposed; she has done too many films. We will work with Bipasha but the idea has to be different,” says Shagufta.

“Jism 2 is with completely fresh actors. Vishesh Films loves working with new people because they can be easily moulded. You cannot mould established film stars because they are not ready to bend. All these great actors repeat their own acting style and look the same in all their films. Vishesh Films likes to find new people and turn them into stars,” she adds.

The original Jism dealt with infidelity and extramarital affairs. So what is Jism 2 all about? “Jism 2 will deal with infidelity, murder, crime, passion — but the focus is on young people. These days, if you see the crime records, young boys and girls are committing the maximum crimes. So the cast of Jism 2 will be people in their twenties, unlike Jism which dealt with 30-something people.”
