100 Pipers presents The Telegraph 31st Nite at Tollygunge Club

When: 8.30pm onwards

What to expect: Calcutta’s very own band Shiva and DJ Austin will get you on your feet on the last night of 2010. Joining the party on Tolly turf will be a host of riders from across the country, courtesy the Medica Junior National Equestrian Championship 2010 underway at the club. The club promises foodies a great time with an eclectic spread of Indian and Continental cuisine — take your pick from Fish Amritsari or Mutton Rogan Josh, Chicken Meringue or Parsley Potato. Spoil your sweet tooth with Gateau or Gulab Jamun.

Clubspeak: “There’s going to be a lot more gallop to the night,” said CEO Anil Mukerji.

Ballantine’s presents The Telegraph 31st Nite at RCGC

When: 8.30pm onwards

What to expect: Mumbai-based Band of Girls is set to rock the night at the Royal greens. DJ Akash will take over from the girls to spin his magic at the console. Munni to Ainvayi ainvayi, Bryan Adams’s Summer of ’69 to Enrique’s Tonight — a mixed bag is what he promises.

Clubspeak: “RCGC’s USP is the personalised service. You don’t need to stress your hand, standing at the bar. Everything will be served at the table,” said CEO M.M. Singh.

 

Blenders pride presents The Telegraph 31st Nite at Dalhousie Institute

When: 8.30pm onwards

What to expect: The five-member band Colours from Shillong will get the party started with some old tunes and new. A live musical performance by Wari Miki Tiewsoh is lined up next. Over to DJ Dajop, who will raise the decibel levels and pump up the revelry with his bag of chartbusters. Two well-stocked bars will quench your thirst; Continental, Tandoori, Mexican, Chinese and South Indian dishes will keep your tummy happy.

P.S.: Dress up in formal party attire to dance the night away at DI.

Clubspeak: “We will ring in the New Year in a traditional manner. We’ll have Auld Lang Syne playing at midnight. Most clubs get bands and DJs from Mumbai but we wanted to give the crowd a slightly different flavour with talented musicians from Shillong. They will play a whole range of songs that will appeal to both the young and the old,” said Denise ’Brien, council member, entertainment and culture.

When: 8.30pm onwards

What to expect: Live music, food and drink, fireworks, fun games and a DJ spin — CC&FC has lined up a step-by-step plan to say goodbye to 2010. First, singers Prerna and Prairna will warm things up with some retro numbers. Next, dance troupe Beat Busters will get you in move-and-shake mode with their Bollywood numbers. Neetii Muhan will step up the tempo, belting out chartbusters, both desi and international.

At the stroke of midnight, a chain of fireworks will light up the CC&FC sky and fire jugglers will take the stage to show off some daredevil stunts. DJ Ravi will be in charge of the console post-midnight to get the revellers do their Munni or Sheila steps. The outdoor dance floor is where you could win loads of prizes too! When hungry, head to the Mughlai and Chinese food stalls that will serve up piping hot bites.

Clubspeak: “Friday night will be a complete package, right from great music to dancing to loads of food and drink. It will be a fabulous party that people wouldn’t want to miss,” said CC&FC CEO Deepankar Nandi.

Ballantine’s presents The Telegraph 31st Nite at the Saturday Club

When: 8.30pm onwards

What to expect: Non-stop entertainment with an act by city rock band The Hobos. For those looking for some sexy moves on the floor, there will be item dancer Sejal Bhardwaj and belly dancer Katie Holland. DJs Feroze, Jazzy and Zoab will be at the turntable, spinning tracks till your twinkle toes can take no more. On the menu will be Indian, Chinese and Continental dishes.

Clubspeak: “The highlights of the evening are the item dancer and the belly dancer. With three DJs and three individual styles of playing, the music just won’t stop. I look forward to our members having a fantastic time,” said club president Ravi Saberwal.

Blenders Pride presents The Telegraph 31st Nite at Space Circle

When: 8.30pm onwards

What to expect: Sa Re Ga Ma Pa champ Debojit Saha will strike the right note with Bolly chart toppers, while Aby Baby, a dance troupe from Mumbai, will move and shake on the stage. Also on the cards is a stint by fire jugglers and gymnasts. Dig into your choice of cuisine — Indian, Continental or Chinese — when hunger pangs strike. Wash it all down with free-flowing booze.

Clubspeak: “We have a lot of wow factors at our do. The ambience will be warm and family-like. Everyone at the club knows each other, so it will be like having a cool house party. We want our guests to relax, have a good time and let our team take care of them,” said corporate general manager Sanjeev Ghosh.
