Craziest moment: On September 6, I had promised my friend that if This Is Us releases in Calcutta, I would not watch any other movie this year. And so far I have stuck to my promise. Also, I have made my mother sign a letter stating that if One Direction visit India, she will have to take me there, come what may!
Midnight Memories: I have already listened to the tracks. To be honest, I thought the lyrics would be a little cheesy but I was so wrong. The songs have a nice rock feel and songs like Midnight Memories, Story Of My Life, Little Black Dress clearly prove that they have evolved a lot. They are no more just a ‘boy’ band.
1D Day plans: For the contest online, I have already sent Sony Music my video with the Lungi dance step and Salman Khan’s towel step. The 60-second video was an impromptu one I shot at my friend’s place using her DSLR. I am not much of a dancer, so the video came out funny! On Saturday I will bake a cake, like I always do when I celebrate anything to do with 1D. I intend to watch the special live streaming on my laptop while eating popcorn. I wish I could stay up all night!
First steps: I remember browsing YouTube in 2011 and stumbling upon this band called One Direction. What Makes You Beautiful was the first song that I heard. Initially I really liked Louis Tomlinson a lot but with time I have moved to Harry Styles!

Harry Styles is my favourite because he is the one who is most attached to his fans. You will always see him posing with fans even if his security guards don’t allow it. I really like that. But then I feel he has too many tattoos and some are pointless. I couldn’t stand Harry when he and Taylor Swift were a couple. Swift is like... too perfect!
Prized possession: The Seventeen magazine which had One Direction on the cover that I had picked up from Oxford Bookstore earlier this year and the Harry Styles ‘airplane’ locket which I got from eBay. I have also made many bookmarks using their pictures; one has their dialogues while one has them sleeping! #Aww
Message for the boys: Please come to Calcutta. We have rosogollas for you! And if they come, I would make them eat biryani at Arsalan, rolls at Kusum, make them wear dhoti-panjabi; take them to my school and Victoria Memorial. Also make them say: “Aami Harshita ke khub bhalobashi!”

Parentspeak: “She is crazy about One Direction, so I allowed her to watch the This Is Us premiere in Calcutta even during her exams because if I didn’t, she wouldn’t have concentrated on her exams. Because of her I have started liking the band; I know all their names. Story Of My Life and What Makes You Beautiful have nice lyrics,” said mother Sunita Anand.
Hands-on: Besides buying stuff online, I make a lot of things –– bookmark to pen stand to wall hanging (one has a picture of Zayn and Perrie Edwards and Louis Tomlinson and his girlfriend Eleanor Calder’s picture collage). Once I was very bored and made a 1D paper penholder out of a thonga. I have also made a wastepaper basket which has their pictures and song lyrics penned on it.

Midnight Memories: This Is Us lived up to my expectations and I loved Story Of My Life. So my expectations from their next album are sky high. They will surely rock it!

Emotional moment: The day I came to know about Zayn and Perrie Edwards’ engagement, I cried all night. But now I am happy for them. But Zayn can marry again so I haven’t given up hope! Also, I believe, 1D is not just a band, it’s a lucky charm for me. I had taken a picture of them during my exams and the exam went well. I am so crazy about 1D that my boyfriend goes crazy... he has, in fact, fixed a time (9-9.30pm) when I can talk about them.

Parentspeak: “To be honest, if she doesn’t have school, she wakes up late. But whenever there is One Direction in t2, she wakes up as soon as I inform her about it!” said mother Anita Chattopadhyay Gupta. “I can understand her craziness. In a way it has a positive impact on her. She balances her craziness and exams very well because according to her Harry had once asked a fan to study during her exams! After listening to Story Of My Life, I have started to like them too. The boys have proved that they are growing up!”
