Snapshots from a melodious evening with Sonu Nigam in charge

July 4, a little past 10pm. Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in New Town was buzzing with excitement. A curly-haired man clad in all black had just taken the stage. A man who used to set many a young girl’s pulse racing with his melodious voice back in the mid-90s. Well, we found out, he still does, what with both mothers and daughters cheering out loud at Sonu Nigam Live in Concert, partnered by t2.

A man who used to set many a young girl’s pulse racing with his melodious voice back in the mid-90s. Well, we found out, he still does, what with both mothers and daughters cheering out loud at Sonu Nigam Live in Concert, partnered by t2.

The Bollywood singer who has delivered many a hit romantic numbers over the past two decades, welcomed the audience with “nomoshkor” and then went on to sing some of his most-hummed tunes like Deewana tera, Suraj hua maddham and Yeh dil deewana. He mixed it up with Kishore Kumar tracks like Mere sapno ki rani, Pyar maanga hai tumhi se and Chalte chalte. 

The verdict after his half-an-hour performance? Ceeti, taali!

Sonu Nigam made sure he spent time with his fans. A lucky few also got to shake hands with him. 
Singer Nehal Jain opened the concert with Lag ja gale and Jiya re.
