nI went to Naples in Italy a long time ago but it remains one of my all-time favourite places. It was way back in 1992 and I’d been invited to the Cannes Film Festival as part of the film Padma Nadir Majhi. After the festival, a few of us from the film’s crew decided to take off and spend a couple of days in Naples.
With its crowded streets and heavy traffic, parts of Naples reminded me of Calcutta’s old roads. Prochida, a nearby island was also on our list of places to hit. We took a short cruise to reach the island and the waters of the Mediterranean were crystal clear. Prochida was simply beautiful! I remember the unusual lemon trees we came across. They were more like large shrubs, being about shoulder-height and the size of the lemons put the ones you get here in Calcutta to shame.
