You will warm to the warm butter yellow shade if soft, delicate prints are your thing. Raima loved twirling in a long flowy dress by Radical Studio in the shade, teamed with nude heels from Hamlyn Grande. You can play around with the flare for drama.
Make-up & hair: Soft eyes, tinted cheeks and matte pink lips are offset by beach-wave hair.
Canary yellow is all about high energy and fun. For a casual day look, Raima sports a half-sleeved shirt tied into a knot, from Only The Family (OTF). Pale blue cropped pants with floral detailing in yellow and pumps from Hamlyn Grande continue the colour story, accessorised with a bangle and cocktail ring by Sakshi Jhunjhunwala.
Make-up & hair: Natural soft curls and a dewy face with a hint of yellow on the eyelids, lots of mascara and pale brown lips.
If you are looking at weddings, mustard yellow and satin are a marriage made in style heaven. For a reception look, Raima wears a lehnga-choli by Esha Sethi Thirani. The grey skirt has golden thread work; the eye-catcher is the long yellow jacket worn on top. Golden jewellery by Sakshi Jhunjhunwala complements the colours.
Make-up & hair: Soft eyes with kajal on the lower lid, tinted cheeks and matte pink lips. Beach waves add more softness to the face.
With festivities round the corner, it’s a great time to pull out all the yellow drapes from the wardrobe. Raima’s sari look has a retro feel with a modern touch. The lemon yellow Sreya Samanta cotton sari with nakshi work is paired with a white frilly pussy bow-style full-sleeved blouse and accessories by Sakshi Jhunjhunwala.
Make-up & hair: The eyes are the highlight with a dash of purple on the lower rim for drama. Matchy plum lips balance the eyeshadow.
Yellow is my favourite colour because it has a certain warmth about it and a spurt of energy. From this photo shoot, I liked the knotted yellow shirt-cropped pants and the sari looks the most! One was very casual and the other is just right for the upcoming festivities — Raima
“With yellow, minimal is the key. Yellow is such a colour that if you are not careful, it can be a blunder. Balancing is the key. If you are wearing a yellow shirt, you can highlight your eyes with a warm yellow shadow but it should be blended very well. To balance it, you can use another shade in the waterline of the eyes. Wear a lot of mascara, but keep the lips nude,” said make-up pro Prasenjit Biswas.
“The thing about yellow is it has varied hues which we can play with. Canary yellow has that pop factor, while mustard yellow is regal. Keep in mind how you are contrasting the yellow in your look and where you are wearing it to,” said Ankita Banerjee, stylist.
