I am a fan of the ethnic look. I mostly wear Indo-Western clothes. Also, I am not a huge fan of loud make-up. I just draw my eyes by putting on a lot of kajal. I then smudge it outwards. I like to underplay and don’t use anything on my upper eyelid. I use a mascara from L’Oreal and lip balm from The Body Shop. If I am going out partying I sometimes use a Maybelline lipgloss. I don’t do anything special for my hair. I just leave it natural and use a L’Oreal shampoo. For my skin I totally depend on lots of water to do the trick. |
I’m 17. The area around my upper and lower lips has become darker than the rest of my face. My lips have also become dark. Please suggest how to hide these marks. Also, could you mention some products that’ll help get rid of this? Please suggest a tan removing face mask since my skin has become tanned of late.

Lip balms are used to seal moisture into the lips. Lips have no natural sebum to hold in moisture or melanin to protect them from the sun, so they’re very prone to being dehydrated, chapped and sunburned. In order to get the best out of your lip balm, use one that has at least SPF 15 and wear it over a layer of moisturiser. Moisturising is very important. Well moisturised skin feels comfortable, soft and supple. When our bodies are lacking water it shows on our skin. Apply your moisturiser to slightly damp skin, directly after toning or splashing with cold water. Gently massage the moisturiser into the skin using upward circular strokes, making sure not to pull or stretch the skin. To protect your skin from the sun, you need to be wearing a sunscreen everyday. A soothing hydrating mask is great for a treat. Avoid clay masks as they can be very drying. Use a corrective concealer either alone or with another concealer to ‘cancel out’ certain skin imperfections. Apricot is the colour most used to neutralise darker tones. A light layer of corrective concealer should be applied and blended on the problem areas followed by a light layer of concealer to match into your skin tone — apply gently all over so not to wipe the first layer off in the process.
