Mercedes-Benz India on Tuesday introduced an industry-focussed electric vehicle (EV) training module in its advanced diploma course on automotive mechatronics. This academic upskilling initiative is to help develop a future talent pool in the EV category and make them industry ready.

To also promote diversity and equal opportunity for women in the auto industry, which is at the cusp of an EV revolution, Mercedes-Benz’s EV module was first introduced at the Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha (MKSSS Women’s College) in Pune.

The course was rolled out by Martin Schwenk, MD and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, Shekhar Bhide, vice-president, customer services, Mercedes-Benz India, Madhuri Khambete, principal, Cummins College of Engineering and Rajendra Jog, trustee, MKSSS.

Ashok Leyland, the flagship company of the Hinduja Group and a commercial vehicle manufacturer, on Tuesday launched the E-Comet Star intermediary commercial vehicle (ICV) CNG range. The customers can choose from two options of 16.1T and 14.250T GVW and three CNG cylinder options — 360, 480 and 570 litres.

Speaking at the launch, Sanjeev Kumar, Head- MHCV, Ashok Leyland, said, “With the ICV CNG segment witnessing a spurt in demand, we have introduced our first of many CNG trucks range — the E-Comet STAR, based on our highly successful E-Comet platform. As the transition towards cleaner mobility solutions is progressing forward, the customers’ needs are also evolving and hence, the CNG range can cater to those needs with safer, fuel-efficient, and best-in class Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).”
