CIL output up 19%

The public sector miner has achieved 43 per cent of the fiscal’s 700 mt production target in six months

Coal India on Saturday said it had closed the first half of 2022-23 with a total production of 299 million tonnes, posting a growth of 19.7 per cent over 250 mt in the corresponding previous period.

The public sector miner has achieved 43 per cent of the fiscal’s 700 mt production target in six months and with the second half production yield expected to be higher, it is on course to meet the production target for the year.

Total coal offtake at 332 mt during the April-September period was up 7.8 per cent from 308 mt in the corresponding period the previous year. Supplies to power plants were at 285.5 mt during the first six months compared to244.5 mt in the corresponding previous fiscal.
