Patna: The work for completing the interiors of the 3-D theatre coming up at Patna zoo will begin within a month. The zoo administration has roped in the services of Creative Museum Designers (CMD) and also for the interiors of the interpretation centre.
CMD is owned by the National Council of Science Museums, an autonomous society under the ministry of culture, Government of India. Its main works include conceptualisation, designing and development of exhibits, exhibition galleries, museums, science centres, planetarium, 3D theatres and interpretation centres and such other knowledge centres on a turnkey basis.
"Earlier this month, we roped in CMD for doing the interiors of the 3D theatre and the interpretation centre. The building is ready and once the interiors would be completed, the facilities would be opened for the public," a Patna zoo official told The Telegraph.
In case of the 3D theatre, the interior work include setting up acoustics and a high-quality projector that would be used for screening short films on wildlife and environment.
The interiors of the interpretation centre would be designed in such a manner that visitors would be able to get all the details about the zoo in an interactive manner to get better understanding of the animals and related information about them while seeing them in different enclosures of the zoo. As far as the likely time that would be taken for completing the works in these two facilities is concerned, the zoo official said eight to 10 months' time was likely to be taken for this work.
"We selected the agency for this work earlier this month and the ground work would start within a month during which the agency would mobilise resources for starting the work," added the official.
The building for the 3D theatre and the interpretation centre has been constructed at a cost of about Rs 8 crore whereas an additional sum of about Rs 3.6 crore would be spent for doing the interiors.
The setting up of these two facilities would be additional attractions for visitors who come to the zoo in large numbers. According to official records, the facility had received over 2.9 million visitors in the last fiscal (2016-17) and the number is set to be more in the current fiscal which would come to an end on March 31 this year.
