Patna, Oct. 9: Digha resident Vishwakarma Rai, 24, was arrested today while on his way to Rajiv Nagar. Police said Rai had planned to murder security guard Grin Singh.

Singh used to be a tenant in Rai’s house a year and a half ago. He used to live in the house in the Digha area with his wife.

Police said Singh had three children. Rai, who had an illicit relationship with Singh’s wife, claimed that two of the children were his.

“Rai is a graduate from AN College. While Singh and his wife lived as tenants in Rai’s house, his wife got into an illicit relationship with the landlord. The relationship continued even after the couple left the house and shifted to Rajiv Nagar,” Patna city central superintendent of police Shivdeep Lande.

He added: “Singh’s wife is apparently in another relationship now with a person named Kohli.”

A disgruntled Rai had started for Singh’s house to claim the two children, aged four and five, as well as kill the security guard.

After Rai’s arrest, a school bag was recovered from him. The bag contained a few books, a country-made .303 rifle and a knife. “We acted on a tip-off. Rai has confessed his intentions. We are also questioning the security guard and his wife,” Lande said.
