Patna, July 31: A 22-year-old youth, Roshan Kumar, was arrested today on the charge of molesting two teenagers at a private lodge under Silao police station in Nalanda district.

Two of his accomplices are on the run.

Roshan was nabbed after the girls complained that the youth, along with four other associates, had raped them. The victims were sent for medical examination on Monday. The preliminary report, however, did not confirm the crime. The report sent to the investigating officer on Tuesday read: “No sperm found.”

Nalanda superintendent of police (SP) Nishant Kumar Tiwary said one of the girls had complained of rape, while another alleged that she was molested by the youths. One of them reportedly had an affair with Roshan’s brother, Gulshan Kumar, the police said.

The SP said Roshan called up his brother’s fiancée, who reached the spot with her friend. The girls were produced in the court of judicial magistrate RVS Parmar today to get their statement recorded under Section 164 of CrPC.

The girls had stated in their FIR that five youths, aged between 19 and 22 years, intercepted them, while they were going to school. The youths then took them to a lodge and outraged their modesty.

The SP said the victims, however, told the court that only three youths were involved in the crime.

“While the prime accused has been arrested, raids were on to nab the two others, identified as Santosh and Lallu,” he added.

The SP added: “They (the accused) had filmed the act on their cellphone. Efforts are on to seize the cellphones.”
