Woman chops off genitals
• Purnea: A woman cut off the genitals of a man when he allegedly tried to rape her at a village under Amour police station on Saturday. The man, Manik Sharma, has been admitted to a government hospital where his condition is stated to be critical. In another incident, a woman suffered injuries when her husband and other relatives attacked her allegedly over demand of dowry.

• Bhagalpur: The CBI is set to file a chargesheet in the special CBI court in Patna in connection with the illegal transfer of government funds to the tune of over Rs 1,000 crore to the accounts of a Bhagalpur-based non-government organisation.
Cuffs on cop
• Sitamarhi: A sub-inspector of police, Bhushan Kumar, was arrested on the charge of helping the liquor mafia in bootlegging. The action against Bhushan was initiated on the directive of the Economic Offences Unit, which had earlier nabbed an illicit liquor trader from Arwal .
3 kids die in mom's suicide bid
• BHAGALPUR:Three kids of a woman, who tried to commit suicide along with them by jumping into a pond, died while she survived, police said on Sunday, reports PTI. The woman, identified as Karuna Devi, tried to commit suicide near Murgia chak village on Saturday night, said sub-divisional police officer Ramanand Kumar Kaushal. The woman was admitted to the Sanhaula primary health centre. The SDPO said bodies of two kids were recovered late on Saturday night, while that of the third was fished out on Sunday morning. The three children, two boys and a girl, were between one-and-a-half years and five years old. The woman is from Firozpur village in Godda district, Jharkhand.
Temple vow
• PATNA: BJP MP Subramanian Swamy (in picture by Ashok Sinha) on Sunday announced that a Janki temple would be constructed in Sitamarhi in Bihar and a university would be set up along with it in which "Indian subjects" would be taught. He was speaking at a function organised by the Bihar branch of Virat Hindustan Sangam on the issue of construction of the temple in Sitamarhi. A large number of people took part in the function.
Child rape
• MADHUBANI: A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two minors at a village under the jurisdiction of Harlakhi police station in Madhubani district on Saturday. Police said the incident took place when the girl had gone to see Mahaviri Jhanda (a procession with saffron flags) at Gamharia village. Police have taken into custody the two accused juveniles. They will be produced in the juvenile court after interrogation on Monday. The police sent the girl to Madhubani Sadar hospital for medical examination. The report is awaited.

• PATNA:Agriculture minister Prem Kumar on Sunday said the farm sector cannot become strong without the participation of women. He was speaking at a function organised to mark Women Farmers' Day. He said in order to ensure participation of women in this sector, 30 per cent of the total allocations made for different schemes are meant for women farmers.
Abducted child rescued
• AURANGABAD: A six-year-old boy, Aryan, who was kidnapped allegedly for ransom on Wednesday was recovered from Jharkhand's Hariharganj police station area on Sunday. Police said Vishal Kumar and Shiva had been arrested in connection with the incident. Vishal, said to be a relative of the victim, had allegedly plotted the kidnapping to extort Rs 1 crore as ransom from the victim's father, Pintu Singh, a shoe trader of Aurangabad. The police have launched raids to nab four other suspects in the case.
Rebel arrest
• LAKHISARAI: A dreaded Maoist, identified as Sanjay Koda, was arrested from Chanan police station area in Lakhisarai district on Sunday. Koda was allegedly involved in an attack on the site of a road construction company located near Balughat in Lakhisarai.

• PATNA: Senior Patna High Court advocate Yogesh Chandra Verma expressed concern over the delay in holding Bar council election.

• PATNA: Non-government organisation Plan International organised the second edition of Debatathon on Sunday in which 31 participants from college and universities talked about various issues ranging from dropout girl students, sexual abuse among others. State education minister Krishnandan Prasad Verma was among dignitaries present.

• Patna: Ganesh Dutt Vichar Manch members on Sunday observed the death anniversary of noted Hindi writer Suryakant Tripathi Nirala. The secretary of the manch, Ajay Kumar, talked about the contributions of Nirala to Hindi literature on this occasion.
