Indrapuri resident Nutan is in a tight spot for the past week for power troubles, courtesy low voltage.

She can’t adequately fill the water tank unless the family wakes up early in the morning to work the pump. She isn’t alone. People in most areas of west Patna are having energy troubles for almost the entire evening. They already had the sultry weather to worry about.

Residents are assured of close to 24 hours of quality power supply — 220V without fluctuations — but people in prominent west Patna areas are struggling to run their appliances.

Between 6pm and midnight, for the past week or so, the residents are left to stew in the sultry weather. The affected areas are Digha, Pataliputra Colony, New Pataliputra, Rajeev Nagar, Boring Road, Boring Canal Road, Indrapuri, Mahesh Nagar, SK Puri, Chakaram, Anandpuri, Vivekanand Path, Rajapur, Nehru Nagar, Danapur, Mithila Colony, Ram Nagri, Patel Nagar and Khajpura.

Sources said the grid sub-stations of Khagaul and Digha, which supply power to parts of west Patna, receive supply with adequate voltage. So, the 33KV feeders are supplying power of less voltage (around 30KV) leading to reduction in the 11 KV line.

Ravindra Kumar Singh, a resident of Rajeev Nagar, said: “My AC does not start these days because of low voltage. We have lodged formal complaints in futile.”

Deputy general manager (public relations), Bihar State Power (Holding) Company, H.R. Pandey, however, said: “I have not received any such complaint. If we get any specific complaint from an area, our engineers will rectify the problem.”
