Patna, Feb. 14: The official website of Patna University (PU), defunct for the past five years owing to non-payment of fees, was re-launched today in a new avatar.

PU vice-chancellor (VC) Shambhu Nath Singh re-launched the website, www.patnauniversity.ac.in, at the varsity computer centre in the presence of senior university officials.

The website displays updated information related to the varsity, including the university act and strictures, dates of examinations and results, tenders and advertisements for appointment of teachers.

The computer centre in-charge, K.P. Singh, said: “It took more than two-and-a-half months to develop the university website.” Singh added that the website has information on when the examinations would commence and a separate holiday calendar listing dates on which the university will be closed for vacations and festivals.

The home page of the website carries the VC’s message with a picture of the main campus of the university with its brief description. At the bottom of the main page there are five columns mentioning campus activities, research/training, students’ corner, teachers’ corner and latest news about the university.

On the left side of the home page, there are other details about the university, including the university directory, teaching faculty, postgraduate departments, colleges under the varsity, examination schedule, seminars and other activities.

There is also a column on the right to information and right to service acts on which students can level queries. The website carries information on anti-ragging measures adopted by the university.

The VC said: “With the re-launch of the website, students would not have to depend on the university notices for everything. They can get information by just clicking on the website of the university.”
