Patna: The newly carved Munger University will carry out a green drive on campus to maintain ecological balance.
Munger University vice-chancellor Ranjit Kumar Verma has directed principals of constituent and affiliated colleges to carry out the drive in July-August. The university on June 5 will carry out a prabhat pheri (morning awareness drive) about maintaining ecological balance.
Verma said: "We have asked all 31 college principals to carry out sapling drive both on the college premises and outside the campus. As part of preparation for the drive, the university will carry out an awareness drive on June 5. On the same day we will ask the college principals to submit a list of saplings they require for plantation drive."
Among trees that will be planted include banyan, neem, peepal, arjuna, sal. mahagony, curry and others.
Sources said once the university receives the list of saplings required, the university administration will urge the forests and environment department to provide the required number of saplings.
