Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) has set up an internal house committee to probe the alleged fake degree certificate case of former Delhi law minister Jitendra Singh Tomar.
The special police team from Delhi, which returned on Saturday evening, suspected that some AAP leaders were involved in a fake degree racket operating out of TMBU apart from Tomar.
Following the team's departure, TMBU set up the committee headed by pro-vice-chancellor A.K. Roy. "Inspector of colleges Manindra Singh and senior teacher Ashutosh Prasad would be the other two members in the committee, which would probe the irregularities in the Tomar degree episode," said TMBU vice-chancellor (VC) Ramashanker Dubey.
Dubey said the committee would submit the report within 15 days after examining how Tomar got the provisional LLB certificate. Earlier, the crime branch team seized some important documents.
Another senior officer from the team disclosed before mediapersons on Saturday night that the team had begun searching for law degrees of six other AAP leaders who obtained it from TMBU in collusion with Tomar.
"Assistant commissioner of Delhi police (crime branch) S.P. Tyagi has sent documents of one Sumit Pathak of Delhi to TMBU for verification. We hope to clear the matter shortly," added the officer.
TMBU's examination department always had a bad reputation and whenever large-scale irregularities come under the scanner, the students resort to violence.
