Patna/Gaya: Magadh University on Thursday called a meeting with the non-teaching employees of the varsity asking them to end the strike that has been going on for 12 days now.
The university administration on Thursday evening called a meeting, which was attended by MU registrar Nalin K. Shastri, pro-vice-chancellor K.N. Paswan and other university employees. Non-teaching staff association union secretary Amitesh Prakash and other office-bearers attended the meet.
Around 600 non-teaching staff of Magadh University are on strike in support of various demands, including appointment on compassionate grounds and promotional benefits for the employees.
Prakash said: "The last appointments on compassionate ground were made in 2014. There are around 70 such cases pending. We had on several occasions raised the issue but no step has been taken."
The university had earlier stated that the demands would be considered only in the light of the University Act.
