Patna, April 4: Two men from Nepal, a man and his father-in-law, were killed while they were returning home after work in the small hours on Monday. Both worked as night guards in the Patna City area.
Criminals slit their throats before fleeing the spot. The bodies were found a few metres from their house.
The incident occurred near the Begumpur Mahavir Temple under Bypass police station in Patna City. The murder has come as a shock for the residents of the area.
The deceased have been identified as Padma Bahadur Budha Thopi, 35, and Ballu Jaisa, 55. Both were residents of Jhula village under Rukum district of Nepal, police said.
It was not possible to immediately ascertain the cause of the murder, Patna police said, adding they are trying to find out about their background.
Patna senior superintendent of police Alok Kumar told The Telegraph the police have got some leads and there could be some arrests soon.
“The two used to live in a rented house in Begumpur. There were five people living there and they used to pay Rs 500 each as rent. The other three tenants had gone home to Nepal for Holi and are yet to return. The incident occurred at around 3am,” a police officer at Bypass police station said.
The officer said the police are trying to ascertain the number of attackers, adding the two men were attacked with knives.
