Banka, May 22: Two persons were arrested from Paharpur village in Banka on Wednesday morning just about 12 hours after they allegedly raped a college student atop Bounsi Hill.

The victim, a Part-II student of a college in Bounsi, had met an engineering student from Biharsharif and went up with him to Bounsi Hill, a popular tourist destination of eastern Bihar.

In an FIR lodged with Bounsi police station on Tuesday evening, she alleged that three cattle grazers followed the duo up the hill and taking advantage of the deserted surroundings forcibly detained them and raped her.

Banka superintendent of police (SP) Pushkar Anand on Wednesday said: “Two of the accused — 36-year-old Kapil Yadav and 28-year-old Babloo Yadav — were arrested from the village at the foothills of Bounsi. While the third accused has been identified, the police are conducting raids to nab him. All three accused are cattle grazers and had kept the duo hostage for more than three hours.”

The girl was sent to Banka sadar hospital for medical examination on Wednesday.
