Patna: The Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamul Congress (TMC) is planning to spread its wings in Bihar. The party has decided to strengthen its organisational structure in Bihar ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The TMC would organise its first state-level convention on Saturday in which party senior leaders, including its national general secretary Subrata Bakshi and Gulam Rabbani, who is a minister in Bengal, would take part.

"We are going to have full-fledged state and district units of the party in Bihar now. Though we have our presence in the state since 2009, so far we were managing the party with a working committee," Arjun Singh, the TMC MLA from Bhatpara Assembly seat in Bengal's North 24 Parganas, said on Friday. Singh said the TMC would contest a few seats in Bihar in 2019 and ahead of that it wanted to create a well-oiled organisational structure here.

He is the party's observer for Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh.
