Chhapra, July 23: Superintendent of police A.K. Satyarthi has replaced Chhapra Town police station in-charge Arun Kumar Tiwary with Muffasil police station inspector Nandu Sharma.
Satyarthi has recommended departmental proceedings against Tiwary for working in a “careless” manner when criminals recently raided the house of RJD MP Umashankar Singh, killing three people.
Tiwary has been sent to Muffasil police station as an inspector.
The SP has sent his recommendation for departmental proceedings to the deputy inspector-general of police, Saran, Sunil Kumar.
Sources said that Tiwary refused to believe one Ghanshyam Singh, alias Pappu, who went to alert him that criminals armed with AK-47s had raided the MP’s house. Tiwary reportedly made fun of Pappu by saying how could armed men enter the town area.
When contacted, Satyarthi said: “The police are working in the right manner in the case. We will eventually be able to take action against the cops who failed to perform their duty and bring the culprits to book.”
