Training for fresh MLAs this month

Patna, Sept. 16: Ten months after the elections, new members of the Bihar Legislative Assembly will undergo a training programme organised by Lok Sabha.

Bihar Assembly Speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary today said 60 per cent of the members are new and they have been invited to attend the training programme on September 27 and 28.

“The new members of the Assembly will undergo training under the guidance of experts to make the Assembly proceedings more efficient. Our main motive is to provide more information on the proceedings. The training session will be held in the Bihar Assembly. During the session, members will be briefed on more effective behaviour inside the House,” said Choudhary.

The speaker added: “They will be trained on various things like how to take oath, ask questions inside the House, to introduce private bills, adjourning the House and others. It will make the members more acceptable inside and outside the House. I am proud to say that the proceedings of Bihar Legislative Assembly are the best in India compared to the proceedings in the other state assemblies.”

Experts, who have been invited to train the new members, include Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, chief minister Nitish Kumar, Bihar Legislative Council chairman Tarakant Jha, leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Assembly Abdul Bari Siddiqui, deputy chairman of Rajya Sabha K. Rahman Khan, leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav, former secretary-general of Lok Sabha G.C. Malhotra and Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Sukhdev Rajbhar.
