Patna, May 9: The chief minister’s janata darbar usually receives grievances of diverse nature every Monday. But a woman’s tale of woe today shocked people at the darbar.
The woman, in her early forties, was allegedly sexually exploited by her husband’s senior at the insistence of none other than her husband and later wronged by members of her family when she approached them for help.
Maya (name changed), the wife of a senior narcotics officer, based in Lucknow, reached the chief minister’s janata darbar hoping to get justice.
When Maya narrated her story before Nitish, he immediately directed his officials to look into her grievances and assured the victim though she was sexually abused by her husband in Lucknow and later not accepted by her family members in Saran, he would do all the needful for her to get justice.
Narrating her story before the chief minister, the woman said how she was allegedly raped by her husband’s senior and her husband on May 5 last year.
Maya said: “On that fateful night, my husband’s senior, who is presently posted as a senior police officer in Delhi, raped me after my husband made me consume food laced with drugs owing to which I fell senseless.”
Maya lay unconscious for two to three days. When she regained consciousness, her husband not only asked her to keep mum but also threatened her of dire consequences if she disclosed the incident to anyone else.
However, on May 15, she managed to lodge a complaint against her husband and Mohan at a local police station in Lucknow.
In the meanwhile, the woman conceived and went to her native place, Shitalpur, in Saran district.
When she narrated her incident to her family members, they asked her to abort the child. But she refused to obey.
Maya added: “My family members repeated the same. My brother made me unconscious by mixing drugs in the food.”
Maya’s family members, with the help of some local doctors, got the child aborted owing to which she bled profusely. Moreover, after the incident, she regularly suffered from stomach pain.
Maya said: “I had also approached A.K. Mandal, a doctor in Patna Medical College and Hospital for treatment, but the doctor refused to treat me claiming that I had no complications.”
But when she underwent ultrasound at Vimal Ultrasound at Hajipur, it was found that she still had some traces of the foetus.
Maya said: “I suffered mental agony after the incident but my only plea is to punish the culprit responsible for the incident. I want to lodge an FIR against my brother too as he had also swindled me.”
About her husband’s senior, she said: “My husband got to know him when we were posted at Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh. At that time, he used to be my husband’s senior.”
Maya has two daughters, one married and the other living with her.
She added: “This is my second attempt at approaching the chief minister’s janata darbar with a hope that I would get justice one day.”
