Patna, May 24: Students of Class XII in the state capital who took the Central Board of Secondary Education examination this year are at the end of their patience.
Not only have their results been delayed, the ranking and pass percentage of schools in the rest of the country have already been declared. City students now claim that their results will have no value as the names of the toppers and other details have already been published.
“How can the ranks be announced when the Patna region is still awaiting results?” said Nikhil Chandra, an examinee. He added: “Bihar students have been performing well. How can they be ignored just like that?”
Though the board does not have any system of declaring toppers or ranks, most schools in the country have come up with their own lists after results for all the regions except Patna were published yesterday.
Amir, another student, said: “This is just not done. How can we be underestimated like this?
“I have many friends who deserve to be on the list of toppers. We felt very bad when the schools across the country just declared the ranks of their students,” he added.
The results of the Patna region — that includes Bihar and Jharkhand — will be published on May 27. The delay in the publication of results was caused by the delay in the evaluation of the answer scripts. While the correction of the science papers could be completed only on May 8, the evaluation of the English papers began as late as May 9.
Rahul, another examinee, said: “The delayed results could still be accepted. However, declaring the ranks of students is not fair, especially for students like us who have been performing well in school.
“Even my parents and teachers are angry about this,’ he said.
His friend, Kashif, is also of the same opinion.
“The ranks should not have been announced. The students of Bihar have been performing well in CBSE. This is really unfair on us,” he said.
Teachers, too, opine that this would be a source of discouragement for the students in the region. Amit, a teacher in a city-based school, said: “Students will be discouraged by such news.”
