Patna: A journalist working with an Urdu daily has lodged an FIR with the Bajpatti police station in Sitamarhi district alleging that he has been threatened with dire consequences for posting a comment on a social networking site about some BJP stalwarts.

Seemab Akhtar (35) told the police that he received threat calls on his mobile phone when he had gone to his native village Bari Fulwaria in Sitamarhi district on Wednesday. The caller, Akhtar said, didn't disclose his identity.

Bajpatti police station house officer (SHO) Chandan Bhaskar said on Friday that the complaint has been filed against an unknown person under sections 385, 504 and 506 of the IPC.

The SHO said Seemab had posted a comment on a social networking site in Hindi, saying that in the next general election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will carry Atal Bihari Vajpayee's picture and shed tears asking for votes to fulfil the late former PM's dream.

The SHO said Akhtar's daily is published from Patna, but the complaint was filed in Sitamarhi because the scribe had claimed he received the threat call at his village which comes under the jurisdiction of Bajpatti police station.

The SHO also assured the journalist that the caller would be brought to book as soon as his identity is ascertained.

"A police officer is already on the job and we hope to have results in the next few days," the SHO told The Telegraph over phone on Friday.

Last week, an associate professor of Motihari central university Sanjay Kumar was thrashed and his friends and colleagues had claimed that bhe had been attacked for making an adverse comment against Vajpayee.

Two persons were arrested in connection with the case lodged with the Motihari Town police station on the statement of the victim. A total of 12 persons were named as accused in the FIR.
