Patna, April 26: A deputy superintendent of police (probationer) in Rohtas fears threat to his life for initiating action against cattle smugglers operating on the state’s border with Uttar Pradesh.
The police officer, Ashish Anand, who is at present undergoing field training, received a call on his official cellphone on Wednesday.
The caller, who introduced himself as Alim Querashi, a resident of Bikramganj in Rohtas, asked him to release the two trucks, which he had seized near Balvaiya turning under Dinara police station.
The trucks carrying 69 cattle were on their way to Kanpur from Bikramganj in Rohtas.
When the officer tried to convince the caller that it was not possible to release the trucks, as the drivers didn’t have relevant documents, the latter hurled abuses and threatened him with dire consequences.
“If you don’t follow our diktat, then be ready to face the consequences,” the police officer quoted the caller as saying.
