Patna: The Patna Smart City Limited, the special purpose vehicle for the smart city project, has asked the Spanish company Eptisa Servicios de Ingenieria to select the place to set up the state-of-the-art integrated control and command centre in the state capital.

The Spain firm has been asked to float a tender and complete the bidding process by March 15 for selection of an agency to set up the integrated control and command centre. The estimated expenditure of the project is Rs 170 crore. Divisional commissioner-cum-chairperson of the Patna Smart City Limited, Anand Kishor, said: "Once established, the centre will help the city take a huge leap in changing the urban management scenario."

"The integrated control and command centre will have experts from various departments, including transport, fire, disaster management, ambulance-related officials and Patna Municipal Corporation experts among others, who will be jointly involved in urban management with the help of sophisticated technology with which we will attach this centre."

"Apart from this initiative, we will come up with sensor-fitted garbage bins. Once the sensor-based dustbins are full with garbage, it will send an automatic message to the integrated control and command room so that it could be emptied. Sensors will also be fitted in traffic lights to indicate heavy or light traffic flow. If there is no traffic, the lights will automatically dim, reducing electricity consumption."

The board of directors' meeting of Patna Smart City Company Limited, chaired by Kishor on Monday, also approved the situation analysis report of the various projects made by the Spain firm.
