Patna: Tejashwi Prasad Yadav was left red-faced in the Assembly on Tuesday because of lack of coordination among his MLAs, who defied his order to get back to their seats.

As the House started its proceedings for the day, leader of Opposition Tejashwi raised the Aurangabad violence. "Yesterday, when I raised the issue, chief minister Nitish Kumar called me babu. I am happy. But the information I gave the House was obtained from mediapersons and my party workers. I regret that the chief minister dubbed it as a rumour," he said on Tuesday, stressing that the RJD had moved an adjournment motion of the issue.

As the treasury bench claimed he was not following proceedings of the House, RJD legislators entered the Well raising slogans.

Parliamentary affairs minister Shravan Kumar declared that the leader of the Opposition could not raise the issue during question hour. Public health and engineering department minister Vinod Narayan Jha said a debate on the budgetary demand of the home department was held on Monday.

He said: "The leader of the Opposition did not utter a word on the issue yesterday. Why is he raising the matter now?"

As the RJD members raised slogans, Speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhary told Tejashwi he would be allowed to speak in the zero hour. At this, Tejashwi asked Shakti Yadav and Sarvajeet to call the MLAs protesting in the Well to their seats. Most of the legislators, however, refused to oblige and Shiv Chandra Ram kept showing a book on the Constitution.

Irked at the conduct, Speaker Chaudhary said: "I also have that book, tell me which part of the Constitution is being violated here," as he adjourned the House.

Visibly upset, Tejashwi called a meeting of the legislators and gave them a piece of his mind for defying him.

"Tejashwi wanted to corner the chief minister on Aurangabad, so Shakti Yadav moved an adjournment motion. Shiv Chandra Ram had given an adjournment notice on the Supreme Court's order on SC/ST atrocities act without our knowledge," said a senior MLA, conceding that Tejashwi was upset at the lack of co-ordination.

In all this, Dalit MLAs cutting across party line who had planned a protest inside the Assembly on the apex court's ruling could not stage it because of the adjournment.

Leader of Opposition Tejashwi has not been having the best of times in the House of late. On Monday, he got a tongue-lashing from chief minister Nitish Kumar when he started talking about harmony in society.
