Patna, Jan. 11: Yet another eve-teasing case in daylight, which left the victim’s brother injured while opposing the crime, has shocked the residents of the state capital.

A girl, around 20 years of age, who was on her way to her coaching class, was teased by a group of boys at the busy Khemnichak Market under Ram Krishna Nagar police station.

The incident, that occurred around 9.30am today, took such a proportion that it snowballed into a brawl between two groups resulting in the girl’s brother sustaining minor injuries while protesting the eve-teasers.

The police, who termed the incident as “small” have made no arrests because no official complaint have been lodged so far. However, they claimed that the ones involved in the crime would be arrested in a day or two.

People residing near the market said the girl resided in Nayachak area located close to the market. “The girl was on her way to her coaching class when a few boys standing by the roadside started passing lewd comments. The girl chose to ignore the boys and they continued passing comments at her. This went on for more than 10 minutes. Later, a few people at the crowded market took notice and asked the boys to stop,” said Ramesh, a resident of the area.

When the people objected, the group of boys suddenly turned violent and got into a fight.

By that time, someone had informed the girl’s brother, who rushed to the spot in a fit of rage and entered into a brawl.

The groups exchanged blows, which saw the girl’s brother receiving a cut on his face. Soon more people joined in and it turned into a major fight until the police were informed. Police reached the spot and took control of the situation.

Police said that the girl has expressed ignorance over the identities of the boys who teased her.

“The police had a talk with her and she said she did not know them. An FIR in this connection has not been lodged. It was a small incident and we are looking into it. Investigations are being conducted and the ones involved will be arrested in a day or two,” said S.K. Sinha, the station house officer of Ram Krishna Nagar police station.
