Talent platform for young minds to nurture skills - Students of around 60 colleges from Bihar & Jharkhand show interest in three-day festival at Patna Women's College

Time to rise & shine: Patna Women's College

A three-day college fest Patna Women's College is organising from January 15 promises students of 60 colleges in Bihar and Jharkhand a platform to unleash their talent.

The students from the various colleges have evinced interest in the three-day Pragyotsav Platinum Jubilee Fest 2014-15. Thought creation, stroke and splash, raise the curtain, cut a rug and strike the cord would be the main events of the fest.

Participants can take part in extempore, quiz, debate, elocution, creative writing, acting, dancing and singing. Students can also join face painting, rangoli and henna-making, T-shirt and canvas painting, impromptu acts, pantomime and photography sessions.

The registration for the event would start from January 10 and continue till January 13 at the college. Passes would be available from 9am on January 15. One pass would cost Rs 250 a person for three days.

Shefali Roy, the head of political science department and one of the in-charges of the programme, said: 'We are organising such a gala event for the first time. This is a chance for college students to enjoy the event. We have also arranged cultural contests, so that students can bring out their best by competing with each other. The responses from other colleges are positive and about 60 institutions have shown interest in the event.'

She added: 'We have framed some rules regarding the various events. There shall be only three participants from one college in each category. No audition will be held at the college. There shall be a time limit for every event.'

Students can also enjoy a singing and rock night on January 16 and 17, respectively. Rock band Faridkot from Delhi will entertain the students. Also from the national capital, Alteropus band's guitarist Abhishek Verma will perform live on the college campus.

Students appeared enthusiastic about the event and were seen practising for the competitions. Not only the students but also the faculty members were busy preparing for the fest.

Preeti Singh, one of the students, said: 'I am excited about the event. I will register for three events that I am good at. I think everyone is going to enjoy the fest and the food.'

Another student, Komal Kumari said: 'This will be a great event as there are various competitions that promises a lot of fun. The best thing about the event is that it would give an opportunity to all the colleges to compete and we would know who is the best.'

The host college students are not the only ones excited about the event. Students from other institutions are also elated about the event.

Aparna Jha, a student of Magadh Mahila College, said: 'I think it's a good opportunity for students to take part in this inter-college fest with a competitive spirit and at the same time have fun with friends. I will register for the group dance on classical song and we are practising for it.'?

Patna College student Aman Kumar said: 'I am delighted to know about the event. I am good in art and I want to be an artist. I have passion for canvas painting, live painting and glass painting.'
