Patna: Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday accused Tejashwi Yadav and his siblings of "shady" deals with businessmen like Amit Katyal, who had set up a brewery in Bihar.

Brandishing excerpts from purported income-tax (I-T) documents against the RJD's first family, Modi said: "Tejashwi resigned from the post of AB Exports director on November 9, 2015 before becoming deputy CM but he issued cheques of AB Exports in the name of Olive Overseas Pvt Ltd, Nakshatra Ltd and Yash V Jewels Limited on February 9 and 12, 2016.

"Two of these firms had given interest-free loans to AB Exports and the money was used to buy the property D 1088 at New Friend's Colony in New Delhi," Modi alleged, asking how Tejashwi could sign the cheques when he had told I-T officials that he didn't know the jewellery firms which had given Rs 5 crore loan to his company.

Modi also claimed that Tejashwi and his family had close relations with Katyal, whom Modi dubbed as liquor mafia.

He claimed that Katyal's firm Triangle Trading Ltd had provided a vehicle worth Rs 9.5 lakh to Tejashwi in 2010. The BJP leader quoted from the purported ledger account of Katyal to claim that he had waived off Rs 30.26 lakh loan of Tejashwi and Rs 55.51 lakh loan of his elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav, and asked why.

He claimed Lalu Prasad's eldest daughter Misa Bharti and her husband Shailesh Kumar were directors in Kingdom Hotel and Resort Pvt Ltd, of which Katyal was also director, from 2006 to 2009.

Katyal's company Krishh Reality Nirmal Private Limited gave Rs 2.7 lakh to Misa as brokerage, Modi alleged.

Modi also alleged Lalu's daughter Chanda Yadav was director in Iceberg Distilleries Private Limited from 2008 to 2014 and its unit had been set up in Bihar by Katyal.

In return, RJD spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav alleged Modi takes benefits from liquor mafia.
