Anand Kumar on Tuesday announced the names of the Super 30 students who took the IIT-JEE this year.
The 30 students from underprivileged families selected by Anand underwent training at the institute from last year. The results of the examination would be declared on May 18.
While releasing the list, Anand said: “The 30 (students) include children of a mechanic, roadside vendor, marginal farmer, grocery store owner, private tutor and even unemployed persons. Most of these students have failed to get proper education because of their economic backwardness.”
Apart from the names of students, the list also includes the IIT-JEE roll numbers of the candidates as well as the occupation of their parents. “In an examination like IIT-JEE, the roll number of a candidate assumes great importance. Sincere students provide roll numbers to only those teachers they trust,” Anand said.
The list figures Ayush Kumar Tiwari, whose father is jobless. Neelabh Srivastva, Abhishek Ranjan and Shailesh Kumar, are sons of marginal farmers.
Out of 30 students, 16 are from general category, 11 belong to Other Backward Castes and three are from the Scheduled Castes.
Anand said: “As results will be announced on May 18, all students would come to my house with admit cards.”
While releasing the list, Anand alleged that several people were campaigning with an objective to malign him.
“There are institutes that use the name of Super 30, but they are funded by the government and corporate houses. I do not take help from anybody,” he said.
Bihar director-general of police Abhayanand announced names of 91 students of his cradles on March 24, much before the IIT-JEE. These students attended classes in six different cities.
Apart from the institutes run by Abhayanand and Anand, no other coaching centre announces the names of their students before the final results are declared.
