Bhagalpur: The CBI, probing the Srijan scam, has summoned some block development officers (BDOs) from Bhagalpur for interrogation in Patna on September 20 and 21.

The CBI has taken over the charge of seven FIRs registered with Kotwali police station against fraudulent transfer of government money from seven blocks in Bhagalpur.

The CBI called BDOs on whose names FIRs were earlier registered for embezzlement of government money from Kahalgaon, Pirpainti, Jagdishpur, Sonhoula, Goradih, Sahakund, Bihpur and Sabour. The CBI recently interrogated some BDOs from Jagdishpur and Kahalgaon at its Sabour camp office.

Soon after the Srijan scam came to light, the then Bhagalpur district magistrate, Adesh Titarmare, had constituted teams to verify the quantum of the scam not only for different government offices but also from the blocks. During the investigation, it was found that Rs 8 crore from Shakund block, Rs 23 crore from Sonhoula, Rs 4 crore from Goradih, Rs 9 crore from Jagdishpur, Rs 10 crore from Pirpainti and nearly Rs 4 crore from Kahalgaon block was illegally transferred. The FIRs were registered last year.

In another development, the CBI has taken over the charge of seven FIRs which were earlier registered with Kotwali police station in connection with fraudulent transfer of government's money from the blocks.

A team of CBI officials on September 11 arrived in Bhagalpur from New Delhi and took over charge of case No. 650/17 and 662/17 from inspector of police Promod Choudhury, case No. 653/17 and 658/17 from inspector of police Ajit Kumar, case No. 660/17 and 654/17 from inspector of police Rajesh Kumar and case No. 676/17 from Arun Kumar. The investigating agency has so far taken over the charge of 19 FIRs earlier registered in connection with the Srijan scam.

However, the CBI is yet to take charge of Kotwali police station case No. 218/17 related to the fraudulent transfer of government money from Bihpur block in Bhagalpur. Sources said the investigating officer of the case, inspector Rajendar Prasad, has not yet completed the work and so the CBI had refused to take over the case. The CBI will conduct fresh investigations only after the police completes its formalities.
