Patna: The government is likely to announce the subsidy on electricity for the 2018-19 fiscal in the coming week.

The announcement is being eagerly awaited since Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission announced the new tariff on March 21.

"The government is seized with the subsidy issue and it is likely to be announced in the coming week," a senior official in the energy department told The Telegraph. Another official hinted at an actual hike of around eight per cent on an average for domestic consumers of different categories once the subsidy is announced.

For calculation of tariff rates in case of bills for March and April, a power holding company official said necessary changes would be introduced in the bill software and the tariff would be calculated in proportion.
