Patna, Oct. 10: At least 100 institutions under the Association of Independent Schools will meet this Sunday to discuss contentious issues related to the Right to Education Act.

C.B. Singh, the principal of May Flower School, said: “There are many loopholes in the act that need to be checked. For example, children from underprivileged sections of society are likely to develop an inferiority complex because of their disparity with other students. They don’t have uniforms of good quality or even school stationery like the other children. We feel there is a silent unrest which, if not checked, could lead to unwanted incidents.”

The Association of Independent Schools has under it institutions such as Gyan Niketan, Don Bosco Academy and St Dominic Savio’s High School.

The members have decided to meet to formulate their views about the negative aspects of the Right to Education Act and later put it before the state government.

May Flower School principal Singh added that the meeting would highlight problems being faced by the schools and parents and their wards.

J.R. Sharma, the association’s vice-president, said: “We will come up with suggestions as far as the Right to Education Act is concerned. I am sure the state government will take them into consideration.”
